When did you start License Key Activation?
Beginning with the MindManager Pro 7 Service Pack 2, released June 2008, Mindjet implemented a new license key authentication and activation process in line with the software industry’s increasing adoption of digital rights management (DRM). Prior to this release and earlier in the year, Mindjet emailed courtesy alerts to the email addresses of customers who had purchased or upgraded to MindManager Pro 7 products to notify them of this change.
Why are you incorporating key activation?
Mindjet wants to ensure that customers are receiving authentic Mindjet products which may include the opportunity to receive product updates, upgrades, and online customer and technical support. Product activation allows customers to better audit their own compliance. This streamlined development and delivery process also provides future opportunity to enable feature and functional components to targeted users.
What products are affected?
Mindjet´s software activation process impacts the Windows release of MindManager Pro 7 and MindManager Pro 8. Customers who upgrade to MindManager Pro 8 will receive a new License Key for their purchase. All customers who are using MindManager Pro 7 or MindManager Pro 7 Service Pack 1 AND ONLY updating to MindManager Pro 7 Service Pack 2 (a free update) will be able to exchange their existing valid license key for a new DRM license key that will be used when they update to MindManager Pro 7 Service Pack 2
What about MindManager Lite and MindManager on Mac OS?
Mindjet´s software activation process is not required for the MindManager Lite or MindManager on Mac OS. These users do not need to do anything.
How are version 6 and earlier customers affected?
Customers who are currently using version 6 or earlier version of the product, and who choose to upgrade to MindManager Pro 8, will receive the appropriate Pro 8 license key with their upgrade purchase.
What does "key exchange" mean?
Mindjet´s key exchange program is a simple process for those users updating from Pro v7.0 or Pro v7.1. Users of single-license keys will be prompted to input their existing v7.0 or v7.1 license key into a web form field, and on submission and validation, will receive a DRM v7.2 key in return. Users who have multi-seat keys, meaning, one key that was provided for use by more than one user, will be able to follow the same process to receive a new multi-seat license key. These new license keys will be the ones used during the installation process of the 7.2 product.
How often can I activate? Is there a limit?
Activation attempts are limited to a certain number of times, depending on the users the license is valid for. Therefore, you should be careful to store your license key in a safe place to prevent any abuse by third parties.
How do I obtain the new key if I have an existing 7.0 or 7.1 key?
If you are updating to Pro 7.2, there are several ways of obtaining the new DRM license key. Single seat users will be invited to exchange their old MM7 key on a web-form. Completing the form, and after successfully registering the old key, the new key will be issued to you. Multi-seat holders will receive their new key(s) through the same exchange process. New customers who purchase Pro 7.2 or Pro 8 will receive their key with their purchase confirmation.
Why do I need an active internet connection for activation?
During activation the your DRM license key combined with encrypted, anonymous machine data will be sent to Mindjet authentication servers and a license file will be returned upon authentication. This is an almost instantaneous automated procedure, and it guarantees you have purchased an original and valid MindManager license and also ensures your license key is activated for the specific machines you have installed MindManager on.
What data will be sent to Mindjet when I activate my software?
Mindjet uses anonymous machine data for product activation. We do not capture nor store any personal data on our systems.
What Software Licensing system does Mindjet use?
Mindjet has chosen the Microsoft Software Licensing and Protection Services (SLP Services) platform to protect and license the MindManager product line. SLP Services is a Microsoft product family allowing software publishers to protect, package, license, manage, and activate their software, while at the same time exploring new business models without changing their code.

I am a corporate user. How does activation affect my install base?
Single seat users who install their software manually will need an internet connection to activate the software. Alternatively, a user can request a license file via email, which, when received, can be used to activate the product. Simply follow the activation wizard in MindManager (Tools > Activate). In a corporate environment, how do I deploy and activate the new software using automated software deployment procedures?

How can I activate my software via phone?
